This beautiful Semillon has been carefully bottle-aged under ideal cellaring conditions since 2009. Wonderful citrus characteristics softened and honeyed over time gives a wine redolent with character. This dry Semillon is an intriguing, full-bodied wine with a satisfying combination of citrus, honey, and grassiness. Halliday 92 points.
A deep yellow tinted straw in the glass, from lovely golden Semillon skins. A palette brimming with intense tangy almost zippy fruit flavors that excite your senses with hints of lanolin and, the marmalade notes reminiscent of its age. This wine is richer, more textural and a bit waxy. It is a consistently delicious drink, sharing the melody of citrus, limes and lemons but twisting those together into small and crisp sherbet bombs which are entangled in a nasal sense of a tinge of something akin to honeysuckle. A long crisp palate with depth of fruit complexity greets you immediately. Some minerality underlies the palatal drive which is lifted by a long line of acidity. The mouthfeel has some textural qualities but the dominant character is tangy, exciting, and dry. There are still more years to develop honeyed characters.
There is a slight pungent quality to both the aroma and palate which, adds another dimension to the overall experience. Pair with organic free range chicken cooked in coconut cream, garlic, coriander, turmeric and a light sprinkle of curry powder and black pepper with Kipfler potatoes, green beans, brown onion and steamed basmati.
